Compare average residential electricity prices across all 50 states and the District of Columbia using the latest monthly state data available from the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Select a state to estimate the electricity portion of a monthly bill at your chosen usage level.
Residential Electricity Prices by State — July 2026
| State | July 2026 | July 2025 | Change | 900 kWh Estimate |
|---|
The bill estimate multiplies energy use by the statewide average price and does not separately model fixed charges, taxes, time-of-use rates, customer-specific tariffs, or local utility differences.
How to Read the Data
State averages are useful for broad comparisons, but your actual rate may be above or below the statewide number. Electricity prices also change by month, utility, rate plan, and usage tier. Use your own utility bill whenever you need a household-specific calculation.
